Deciding on a Business Structure
When you start your business you must decide on a legal structure for it. The Businesslaw.gov website provides some comparative information on business structures as well as links to other sources of information on legal structure. Under the “plain English Guides” heading, click of the “Starting a Business”, then on “Business Structure”.

Also, try Nolo Press. Click on the “Plain English Guides” tab near the top. It offers a comprehensive review of business structures.

Registering Your Business with the Commonwealth of Virginia
All partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies conducting business in the State of Virginia must register or file with the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
